Being “not very good” isn’t important. Just draw, stuff you like and improvements will come with work and time. Don’t forget to study a bit of technical stuff like anatomy, shadows and highlights, etc, it will make your artistic life easier :) (It’s boring but it works!)

Look at my art when I was between 10 and 15. And let’s not forget this masterpiece from 1991. You see?

You’ll improve, little by little, and I just hope you’ll improve faster than me because I still have problems drawings hands even after all this time.

Why do you want to torture me anon? xD I think that if I survive 5-6 illustrations of T&S it will already be a miracle. However, first, I have to take care of my SpnJ2BB and my Journal of a Man of Letters. I can’t wait to start working on Issue 11 even if I’m gonna busy this week because I’m traveling ><

I already have a couple of ideas for Twist & Shout but I still don’t know if I’m gonna draw them in digital or traditional art.

Ha! Ha! My love of food is showing…and you should see me IRL too. You are right, I love drawing food, and browsing food blogs (my J2BB will be full of food BTW ^o^)

There are a lot of things that inspires me:

- Other people’s work. I love browsing blogs like fuckyeahillustrativeart or darksilenceinsuburbia to discover new artists. I have tons of books at home about illustration from art books to more technical stuff that focuses on “making of” like Pixar’s “The art of…” series. I’m going to see a tiny detail in a page and boom, it’s going to inspire me something.

- Music videos from before the 2000’s. My age is showing I’m afraid but I think that one of the things that influenced my art the most when I was a teen and even now were PVs like GnR’s November Rain and Don’t Cry, Enya’s Book of Days or A-ha’s Take on Me. I was also influenced by album covers. I remember I drew when I was 12 a fake travel journal inspired by the 12” cover of Duran Duran’s Seven and the Ragged Tiger.

- Travels Journal. They can be composed of photos or drawings, IDC. There are things I am mad about and I love collecting photos of things like electric wires in Tokyo or lonesome roads and dinners in the US. :)

- Anatomy books. I have tons at home, my Mom being a surgeon. I think that’s why I love drawing gore stuff and human organs so much, particularly the human heart. I can spend hours looking at the details of the circulatory system too. It’s beautiful.

Voilà! In short: art books, postcards, anatomy books, TV (a lot of TV) and also, what I see around me. You have no idea how much I love drawing Starbucks Coffee related stuff (I don’t even know why!)

It depends if I care about the drawing or not:

- If I don’t care, I let the drawing smear in my sketchbook. It’s not important and there’s nothing that can be done anyway.

- If I care, I put a sheet of paper between the two pages of the sketchbook. I love using tracing paper for this. It makes your sketchbook look big but at least, your favorite drawings are safe.

Don’t tell me about this fic again, I finished it about one week ago and I cried like a baby while reading the last chapters. ;___;

It was SO sad..but awesome!

Call me a masochist but I asked the author the permission to draw some artworks inspired by it…which means I’ll have to re-read it at some point. xD For the moment, I am looking for infos and photos about fashion in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s in the US. And 1960’s bikes!

Yup! Hannibal is awesome. It has been renewed so I’m extremely happy.

I saw the preview of The Tomorrow People and it’s definitely on my watch list. In addition, there’s Mark Pellegrino so it’s a bonus and the visual effects don’t seem bad at all.

I also saw the preview of the Originals: no way in hell I’m gonna waste my time with this show. In addition I don’t like TVD so, huh, nope!

I read a few books by Anne Rice: Vampire Chronicles series, Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, The Queen of the Damned, The Vampire Armand and the Blood Canticle.

I’m sorry, I don’t think I will redraw a new art inspired by one of her books one day. The last one I drew dates back 6 or 7 years ago ^^;;
